Skincare is a big goal of mine this 2018. I live in a dry, cold climate here in Utah, which can be really hard on my skin. Winter is the perfect time to repair some of the damage your skin felt over the summer and with the new year, it is an even better time to start a new routine with these winter skincare tips.
Care For Your Underarms
Whenever I think about skincare, the face is the first part of my body I think about taking care of, but my first tip is something I think gets overlooked. Underarm skin is a sensitive area all year long. Many times we think it is only important during the summer, but winter is just as important of a time to care for your underarms. The textures and fabrics on all of your cute sweaters can really cause irritation on your skin. That is where Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant comes in to help. Dove Dermatologist, Dr. Alicia Barba suggests using this product because it will keep you hydrated and protected because it is formulated with moisturizers that help alleviate the irritation caused from the fabrics and will leave you with smoother and softer underarms.
After hearing this I made the switch to Dove Advanced Care and I can already feel a difference this winter. I love that it provides 48-hour odor and wetness protection while also moisturizing my underarms for softer and smoother skin. I also love that they have a variety of different kinds to allow for whatever type of smell you like best. I’ve been using the Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant shea butter smell, and I’ve loved how it smells. It is subtle, but still gives me a fresh, clean smell, even 48 hours later.
Don’t Let Fashion Get In The Way
Like I said in my last tip, many times when I hear about winter skincare tips people focus only on their face. One of my biggest tips is to make sure you moisturize beyond your face. Even though the fashion being big sweaters and long jeans during the winter, it doesn’t mean you can neglect to pay attention to the skin that is covered up. Make sure to treat your neck, chest, hands and elsewhere all year long. If you make sure to take care of all of your skin during the winter, your skin will thank you come spring and summer when you are showing off that skin again.
Use A Hydrating Cleanser
Dry skin is more than just annoying and uncomfortable. If it isn’t treated and taken care of properly can lead to serious skin problems that can last longer than just the winter months. Make sure to use a hydrating cleanser and make sure that you are moisturizing your skin.
Sunscreen Isn’t Just For The Summer
Sometimes I forget that just because it is the winter, doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t protect my skin from the sun. I suggest switching to a moisturizing sunscreen to help protect your skin, but still moisturizing it during the cold months. This can be a moisturizer or a foundation. I also have a primer that includes SPF that I love using. Even though you are bundled up, those ski trips and outdoor snow time still means your face can get sunburned. Don’t let the term “winter” cause you to take a break from sun protection.
Skincare Routines Are A Must
Having a routine for your skin both morning and night is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. Bedtime is one of the best times to hydrate your skin. Your routine doesn’t need to be anything major or take a lot of time. I suggest using these three quick and simple steps before you go to sleep: 1. Wash Your Face. 2. Apply a retinol. 3. Moisturize. These three simple and quick steps can help you keep you skin healthy, glowing, and looking younger.
