Summer is almost here (9 more days of school left, but who is counting!) and that means three things for me: no school, warm weather, and VACATIONS! I love going on trips and since it is hard for me to take time off during the school year, our vacations are done during the summer.  This year we have a few coming up and I can’t wait to blog all about those, but until I do I am going to share my top 5 items that I always take with me when I travel.

I teamed up with HomeAway to share my tips for packing, but they’ve got some great summer vacation ideas as well! They are a company that helps to rent out homes for your vacation that will help get you more space and privacy compared to a hotel, and the homes are simply gorgeous!

My Checklist:

1. Camera – I love capturing everything I do on camera, especially since I recently started blogging.  A camera is a must on a vacation.  I have a canon that Kyle got me for my birthday, but sometimes I even just enjoy taking pictures with my phone so I can quickly upload to social media.

2. Portable Phone Charger – This is one of my favorite items to bring on a vacation and I encourage everyone to get one.  I love having a portable phone charger for when my phone starts to die, especially when I don’t have time to go back to the hotel to charge it.

3. DVD’s & a Laptop – I love having a laptop and my favorite DVD’s while I’m on vacation.  It is perfect for when I’m back at the hotel at the end of day and there is nothing on tv.  I hook up my laptop to the tv and can watch my own movies on a bigger screen than my laptop.

4. Cute Backpack – I love bringing a backpack on vacation with me to help carry snacks, wallet, phone charger, camera, etc.  It is a lot easier for me to use a backpack than a purse, especially when I’m at Disneyland (my favorite place)!

5. Swimsuit – There is always time to go swimming at the beach or hotel!  You can check out a few posts I did on my favorite modest swimwear here and here.

I’d love to hear what your essential items are for when you go on vacation.  Let me know in the comments below!
