I’ve always had a hard time styling bermuda shorts and from talking to my friends I’m thinking I’m not alone. This summer I want to be more purposeful in how I style my bermuda shorts and today I am sharing with you exactly how to style bermuda shorts.
Bermuda shorts are honestly not the most flattering pair of bottoms you can wear, so you have to be very smart about how you style them. Throwing on a basic t shirt is not going to help you or flatter your body while wearing bermuda shorts. Adding accessories (my favorite) or adding the correct top will really help you look cute and stylish while staying modest this summer.
There are different types of bermuda shorts, but I normally stick with boyfriend (a little looser fit) or fitted. There are also super cute chino styles, but I’ve never had a pair of those. I love how people style those for a classier look during the summer though and am currently on the hunt for a good pair.
First let’s talk about where to purchase bermuda shorts! I’ve created a list of my favorites that are all budget friendly (YAY) and under $50. Click through below to find the ones that may be best for you.

Ways To Style Boyfriend Bermudas:
Feminine Tops: I added this feminine peplum top to the boyfriend jeans to provide a more classy feel. I also added a straw bag, hat, and a cute pair of open back flats. The accessories helped to draw attention away from the awkward length of my shorts and drew the eye to my entire outfit as a whole.
Blazer and Wedges: Added a blazer, hat, and wedges automatically turned my outfit from a casual summer jeans and shorts outfit, to a classy and stylish look.
Knotted Baseball Tee: Take a t shirt and knot it on the side to provide a different and unique style compared to your typical t shirt and shorts outfit. I added glasses, a headband, belt, and sandals to complete the entire outfit and look pulled together from top to bottom. This is a go to summer day at the park outfit for me.
Collared Blouse: I wanted to show another way you can take a blouse that is more professional and girly and how I paired it with boyfriend denim shorts. I added a pair of sunglasses, wedges, and a cute pink purse. I love the collared shirt look with shorts as it’s such a great way to dress up your summer outfits while not having to wear jeans.
Ways To Style Fitted Bermudas:
These are the trickiest bermudas for me to style. I suggest folding them once or twice to add a touch of style as well.
Fitted T Shirt: I would only recommend wearing a fitted shirt with fitted bermudas if you are a rectangle shape, otherwise it will actually accentuate your waist and hips. I found this shirt with the aztec pocket and thought it was a fun addition to a simple v neck summer shirt. I also added a fun pair of colored sandals to brighten up the bottom half of my body.
Patterned Top: I love this buffalo plaid shirt that has buttons down the back for an added fun touch. I combined it with my go to accessory right now….bandanas. If you need ideas on how to style bandanas check out my post here with 6 ways to style bandanas. I also brought back my wedges, straw bag and hat.
