House décor has always been a love of mine and now that I finally have a house I can’t wait to share with you how I’ve been decorating. Today I am sharing with you some of my favorite tips for how to decorate your front porch to be an inviting place for you and your guests, all while shopping on a budget! I got everything on this porch from the table and chairs to all the decorations for all under $150!
The front of your house is your first impression, so you want to make it a good one. I wanted to have my house be a warm and inviting place for my guests, so I knew I wanted to make it bright, happy, and include a place for people to sit and feel they could stay awhile.
I started with an outdoor table and chair set that I found online from someone that was selling it for only $15! I definitely recommend checking your local yard sale groups for cheap finds on good products that people don’t need anymore. To decorate the table and chair I wanted to bring pops of color to the black set. I found these small, colorful $5 pillows from Target and the bigger green pillow from At Home.
For the table I took a colorful dining tray and filled it with some of my favorite outdoor items. I put a small plant, a bird house, and a watering can on the table for the decorations. I kept with the theme of turquoise and bright, and I love how it turned out!
My favorite part of my porch is this cute wood “hello” sign I bought from Jane.com. Jane is an online site that has a whole section of home décor (along with other categories like clothing and shoes) on major discount. I check it almost every day because they always have new items on sale. I love the deals and the variety. I got this wood sign for $30 and I couldn’t find it anywhere else for that price, so I was thrilled. I am subscribed to Jane.com’s email list so I receive their daily emails of deals and it makes it easy to watch for items I need for my house.
In order to paint the sign the perfect color, I took one of the pillows to Home Depot and had the paint department color match the paint to the pillow so that I knew it would match my other decorations. It was the coolest thing ever to have them paint match for me.
To hang up the hello sign I did a lot of research before and I found this outdoor double sided tape that holds up items to your house. I placed the tape on each letter of the sign and then placed it on the house, and it was as easy as that! You can buy the tape here: Scotch Outdoor Mounting Tape, 1-inch x 60-inches, Gray, 1-Roll (411P).
I made the wreath by wiring fake flowers around the wreath and wiring a bow around the middle of the flowers. Once I had that part, I used the twigs on the wreath to hold up the “E” that I found at Walmart for $2. It was really easy to make and really cheap.
Finally I ended up with this fun doormat. I loved how it says “hello” and “goodbye” depending on where you are standing. I felt like it was the perfect touch of welcoming my guests and thanking them for coming.
